Steffen Bastian representing JUWELIS in Liberia
This was one of the most exciting business trips in my carrier with long-lasting memories. Liberia and its people have affected me and I am honored to be part of the efforts of rebuilding the country. Thank you, Michael Koelsch, for excellent organization. -- Steffen Bastian, CEO and Chairman of the Board
JUWELIS' CEO, Steffen Bastian, joined a prominent European Investment Delegation visiting Liberia, Africa in April 2013. The tour was organized by Augustine K. Nguafuan, Liberian Minister of Foreign affairs in collaboration with Liberia's Union Strong Group Inc. and Michael Koelsch, Liberia's Honorary Consul in Leipzig, Germany.
The delegation's visit follows last year's assessment mission to find solutions to the three critical areas necessary to unlock Liberia's economic potentials. Included are road structure, energy, and building infrastructure. For this purpose the SAXONY Consortium was formed. This includes VINCI, one of the world's leading concession and construction group. Focusing on these three identified aspects, the group explored relevant private and public sectors.
The visit included meetings with Mr. Natty B. Davis, Head of the National Investment Commission (NIC), Finance Minister Amara Konneh, Land, Mines and Energy Minister Patrick Sendolo, Public Works Minister Samuel Koffi Woods, Health and Social Welfare Minister Dr. Walter Gwnigael, Deputy Minister of Economics Axel Addy, and Heads of the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) among others.
