The skilled Silk Weaver of Cambodia
Silk Island is just minutes away from the bustling capital of Cambodia but time has stand still due to the fact that it is only reachable by a small ferry. With unpaved roads, more bikes and ox wagons than cars, shakes and lots of agriculture it seems that time has stood still. But this island has a special charm with it's friendly and always busy inhabitants. We have not seen one person napping. Everybody was busy with either swiping the front yard, cutting back on greens in the yard, building houses or weaving in the shadow of their home. Silk island got its name from the excellent silk product and the skilled silk weavers, taught from generation to generation.
It was our desire to get to know the silk weaver women ourselves and find out first had how we can support them with our interest to empower women all over the world.
